Founders

Emile Montessori Children's Education Center was founded in 2011 by Dr. Bruce Lou and Miss Ashley Lee. It has continued to serve children and parents in Macau since then. The rich educational experiences of two founders include holding the American Montessori Association (AMS) Infants and Toddlers 0 -3 Credential, the International Montessori Association (AMI) Primary 3-6 Diploma, AMI Elementary 6 -12 Diploma, AMI Orientation to Adolescents Studies 12 to 18 Certification, and AMI Montessori for Dementia and Ageing certification.

Transitioning from traditional education to Montessori education recognizes that each individual is gifted. Each person needs broad guidance and assistance in life development and to understand their purpose in life. In addition to working in the Montessori field, the two founders have been helping adults understand the practices of Montessori education in different fields and institutions in Macau.

The origin of Emile:

The name of our centre ‘Emile’ came from the famous work of the great French philosopher ‘Rousseau’, "Emile”, or “On Education”, which was the earliest Western philosophical novel about education. It is said that everyone is an independent individual and should have freedom. This coincides with the idea of guiding a child's talents, a reality and freedom they have as they work in a prepared Montessori environment. The Chinese translation of Emile has subtly presented the founder's educational philosophy. Emile in Chinese also means "love all of your children". We believe that children are adults’ mentors, and all children should be treated with love and respect.
